Customer Rating: Summary: Great Bargain! Comment: I wasn't exactly sure what to expect at such a great price but this deal is AWESOME! I couldn't find the entire Fooly Cooly episodes for anything less than $40 or $50 but finding this was so lucky! I don't have to have all those extra DVD's and take time to have to keep changing the episodes when finished or spend a huge amount of money; It all comes in one neat, bargain package! Would recommend to any fan of Fooly Cooly...except that this isn't for you if you are looking for your movie with alot of extra's and specials.
Customer Rating: Summary: What a steal Comment: If you're like me and don't care about special features, you just want to watch the show, this is the best. It's got all six episodes on one disc, english dub or japanese w/ english subtitles. Usually I prefer the sub, but with this show I prefer the dub. Best part of this product is the price. I've seen a few times a complete set for FLCL, except it's like $150. For $13, you get this great show, and although you don't get a T-Shirt or manga, which is actually pretty cool, I think I can stomach saving $137.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fooly Cooly Comment: Fooly Cooly is one of my favorite animes..its got great animation and the storyline is insane..i've watched it probably 4-5 times through and im still not sure whats going on in it but i love it anyway. if you like anime and weird stuff, i highly suggest Fooly Cooly. the first time i saw it my friend had bought it and showed it to me, (this was several years ago) he had paid 90$ for it and it was totally worth it. its like 13$ on here so pick it up!
Customer Rating: Summary: Fooly Cooly Comment: this Dvd is Awesome it has all six episodes on it and no previews for other animes just straight to the menu and play tho there are on extras but other then that this dvd is cool beans
Customer Rating: Summary: For Any Anime Fan Comment: As an absurdist, I have to say FLCL is one of the greatest things to ever happen to anime, or animation in general. Alongside Bobobo, Cowboy Bebop, and Azumanga Daioh, FLCL is one of the best things I've ever seen come out of Japan that have nothing to do with video games.
Naota, the main character, is one day attacked by a mysterious guitar-wielding woman on a Vespa, which releases a mysterious power within him. The result of this power is an inter-dimensional portal in his forehead capable of summoning forth all manner of robots, ranging from helpful to violently psychotic. Despite the frequent use of absurdist humor, the underlying plot-line is quite evident.
I have seen this anime confuse a great many of my friends who try far too hard to comprehend it. After watching all of the episodes on Adult Swim a number of times, I managed to see through the absurdism and sci-fi to the real meaning. You see, Fooly Cooly is layered. On the top, it is an absurdist humor story with nothing but random craziness to its name. A little deeper down, you see that it is an intriguing story of science fiction, with a helping of absurdism on top to make it hilarious. Beneath the sci-fi, is the tale of a teenage boy going through puberty, hiding behind its dual masks and waiting to be discovered for what it is. If you don't believe me, watch the entire thing again with this review in mind, it will all make sense.
