Summary: Excellent reception and battery life!!
Comment: I've had several phones over the years; mostly Motorola's, Nokia's, and LG's. I've never been able to find a better brand than LG! Several of my friends have Blackberry's and the iphone, and my LG phone ALWAYS has the best reception! I travel often due to work, and have been all over the country (both metropolitan cities and several rural areas) and I rarely have any problems.

I have been using LG phones for the past 4 years. This year, I had initially decided try out the Nokia 6301 (for its sleek look and wifi capabilities) but was quickly disappointed. The reception was awful and I had to keep charging it constantly. After about a week, I returned it and decided to go back to an LG phone. As soon as I got the LG VX 8350, I was amazed at the difference in quality! The reception is great...and often sounds crisp as a landline! The battery life is also excellent! I talk an average of 3 to 4 hours per day...and I can go 4 days without needing a charge! The Nokia couldn't even last 1 day! The phone is well-built and durable. Some features that are not the best are the camera and menu layout. Picture quality is not great, but I rarely use it. Also, the menu layout is pretty basic...but what I need is a phone that actually works when I need it. I'm not as concerned with having special features or with fancy aesthetics. When I'm on the road and traveling, I need a phone that is reliable and that can keep up with me. This phone is just that!

Pro's:
*Excellent Reception
*Excellent Battery Life
*Well Built/ Durable
*Bluetooth

Con's:
*Camera is not that great
*Menu layout is basic

Summary: Outstanding reception!
Comment: This phone provides excellent reception from places that previous three phones did not work, such as every room in our apartment (including a walk-in closet), elevators, underground parking garages, any location within stores, and between underground metro stations. I still have not found a place where this phone does not work. I like the "feel" and the look of the phone, and also find it easy to use (my last phone was an LG). I'm impressed with, and love, this phone.

Summary: Decent phone, broken hinge
Comment: This phone is fine, but after about 9 months the right hinge is broken. Besides that it's ok. It has all the features I need, a good speaker phone and all that. I accidentally hit the clear instead of down or the other way around ALL THE TIME, so that's annoying. The hinge thing is pretty common though.

Summary: DO NOT BUY - bad voice quality
Comment: The voice quality (receiving calls) is terrible. It's just fuzzy. I tried replacing the handset, but the new one was just as bad. I previously used an older model LG that was about the same size (fewer features) and was better in every important way (smaller, better voice quality, more user friendly interface).

OTHER FAULTS: You can't tell the time from the front display. You can't see if you have messages from the front display. The front has buttons that will press accidentally if you put it in your pocket.
VERY ANNOYING: Every time you miss a call you get a Missed call message and an icon stays at the bottom of the main display till you acknowledge it. Same if you receive a message. So EVERY TIME you get a voice message you have to go to the menu to acknowledge the missed call, even after you listen to the message. Just stupid. I'm junking this phone and getting a Razr or something cheap till I get my next 2 year subsidy.

Summary: MP3 player not good
Comment: The phone by itself is alright, of course it has the same generic Verizon GUI which makes all their cellphones look the same! Still has a lot of features and I haven't had any problems with the call quality. The earpiece is a little weak, speakers are fine. It has the tactile keypad which makes dialing easy. I had hopes to use this phone also as an mp3 player however the sound quality is not acceptable compared to my Iriver (an old one). I used an 8G memory card and it syncs very nicely with WMP 11 and I could fit more that 1000 songs in it. Volume is loud but only 7 steps, you get a lot of midrange which makes it sound like an AM radio.
I belive if there was a 5 band equalizer and a 30 step volume control the sound could be more pleasant, however Vcast is very raw in this regard.
I will have to carry my mp3 player with me for now!

Editorial Reviews:

An upgrade to the popular VX8300, the LG VX8350 slims down the clamshell design by doing away with the external antenna, but it keeps the external LCD and music playback control buttons. And you'll need those because this phone is compatible with Verizon's V Cast Music Service, which enables you to purchase songs through your phone and download them via Verizon's fast EV-DO data network. Other features include integrated dual speakers, Bluetooth connectivity for stereo music streaming, 1.3-megapixel camera with video capabilities, voice dialing, and MicroSD memory card expansion.

Download your new favorite tunes right to your phone via Verizon's V Cast Music store.
Verizon Service Options
With support for the EV-DO high-speed data standard, you'll enjoy fast access to the Internet and Verizon's multimedia services (additional charges applicable), with average download speeds ranging from 400 to 700 Kbps and peak rates up to 2 Mbps. (Learn more about where EV-DO coverage is offered.) The V Cast Music service enables you to download songs instantly to your phone, or purchase music through your PC and transfer the files to your phone. If purchased from your phone, you'll receive two copies of the song: a Windows Media Audio Pro Plus format at 64Kbps stereo is sent to your phone, and a Windows Media Audio 9 format at 160Kbps stereo is sent to your account in the V CAST Music online store for downloading to your PC. V Cast Music offers nearly 2 million songs, with more being added all the time.

With the V Cast Video service, you can stream or download video clips to your phone from a variety of news, entertainment, sports, and weather channels, including CNN, ABC News, E!, CBS Sports, The Weather Channel, and VH1.

Getting on the Internet is easy using Verizon's Mobile Web 2.0 package, which allows you to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. Verizon's Get It Now wireless download service is also fully compatible with this phone. This pay-per-download service features application downloads, games and productivity tools. You can also personalize your handset with ringtone downloads using the Get It Now service.

With this GPS-enabled phone, you'll be able to access Verizon's VZ Navigator service (additional charges applicable) for voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, heads-up alerts, local search of nearly 14 million points of interest in the US (such as landmarks, restaurants and ATMs), and detailed color maps. And Verizon's Chaperone service lets you easily locate your loved ones from your Verizon Wireless phone or PC in real time. After defining a zone, such as an area designating a school or summer camp, you'll be sent an alert via text message when the Chaperone handset enters or leaves the zone.
