Summary: What's wrong with a good ending?
Comment: I've heard a lot of bad things about the ending of this book, and am completely confused by them. Granted, the ending might not appeal to some, but to those who can appricate the fact that the story is about the journey to one's 'dark tower' and not the tower itself, it is a wonderful read. I found the series to be quite fascinating and wonderful to read. To be taken to a world that was so complex and so well made was a wonderful experience.

Summary: I just had to know...
Comment: So I read the series. Up until the end of the 7th book I really enjoyed the series. For me the premier book of the series is the 4th book. The worst is the 7th book. The 7th book wasn't half bad, until the end. And of course I just had to read the end. Stephen King warned me not to, but I just had to do it.

Honestly, King ruined the series for me in those last couple pages. He talked about wanting to write an epic series like LOTR, and in those last couple pages he destroyed all of his work through the series. I originally began to feel like he as tired of the series at the end of the 5th book. Something in the story line seemed rushed and it lost it's "epic" feeling. After reading the 7th I'm almost entirely sure he was bored/tired of the series. Maybe I'm bitter, but I feel that he wanted to ruin the fantasy side of the story in those last couple pages just because his fans wanted him to finish them so desperately.

Anyways, I gave the book 2 stars. Mostly out of spite, but also because I feel that he failed to accomplish what he claimed he wanted to do all along and that he failed on purpose.

If you've ever heard you shouldn't read past the 4th book, knowing what I know now, I'd tell you to stop at 4 and dream up your own ending. Most likely it's better than King's ending. I have a feeling you won't and if you're anything like me you'll regret it, but that's just the way life is.

Summary: Was let down........
Comment: I would like to say its been a few years since Ive read the last DT book, but id like to voice my opinion. I agree with the other serious King fans and DT fans, that after reading and waiting for then next book to come out wanting to know what happens next(im 35). I was very dissappointed how the book ended. I was like "WHAT....THATS IT?" It was almost like King didnt even try to put a good ending. It was subpar at best. As a big King fan i enjoy most of his books. The last 3 DT books were not very good. It was almost like he wasnt really trying to write good, just trying to hurry and put something out there. Id say for the series as a whole i enjoyed it, but King could have done way better with the last 3 books esp. the ending.

Summary: perfect
Comment: I LOVED each and every one of the books in this series. I am a firm believer that they are King's best work. I just want to say that I think that the ending to the Dark Tower series was perfect. Have King's stories ever ended happily? I can't recall at the moment one that did. I think we all enjoy his books because King weaves some of the sickest most disterbing stories around. He loves to toy with his readers' emotions. How can anyone expect this story to end any differently? If you were reading this book and expected everything to be spelled out and end well you were only kidding yourself and have no reason to be upset.

Summary: A Dark Towering Masterpiece from "The Dark Master"
Comment: I'll admit I am the Constant Reader that Stephen always references..I have been a loyal fan for more years than I care to admit. Starting with Salems Lot and ending with Duma Key. I never picked this series up. I didn't want to be strung along by a serial novel.

When the final book came out I picked up the first one. I thought I would read one a month. I was wrong...I couldn't read fast enough. I finished all seven in under 2 months. I was hooked..I laughed, I cried and I shivered in the dark. This book had the penultimate ending.

I have not re-read any books since the Tolkien series and The Stand. I am starting them all again from the beginning.

Stephen King has rocked my literary world (again). He finally accomplished what he started at "19". Take the journey to the Dark Tower; you won't regret it.

Editorial Reviews:

Set in a world of extraordinary circumstances, filled with stunning visual imagery and unforgettable characters, The Dark Tower series is unlike anything you have ever read. The final book opens like a door to the uttermost reaches of Stephen King's imagination. You've come this far. Come a little farther. Come all the way. The sound you hear may be the slamming of the door behind you. Welcome to The Dark Tower.
