Customer Rating: Summary: An Awesome CD!! Comment: Mary-Kathryn has be recording and sharing her music since her first album in 1995. "Dreams & Visions" is her fourth album to date and is her best album!! My all time favorite song on this CD is the first one called "Incense Of Praise." I loved it the moment I heard it. I would classify her music as World Music but some songs sound more Celtic sound where others sound more Middle Eastern. I was listening to an interview and she said that God told her that her call was to be a psalmest and she was to share her music to help inspire and bring healing. If you like Moya Brennan, Enya or Loreena McKennit then you will like her. She has recontly gained success in the New Age genre. When asked about the sound she states that it was ours first. It is a great album and I highly recommend any of her albums. In my opion this one is her best!
Customer Rating: Summary: Draw's you into praise and worship. The Holy Spirit is there! Comment: I really like this CD. It helps me to rest and relax. There is definately an annointing here...check it out.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Worship Album for the World Comment: On Dreams & Visions, her fourth release, Mary-Kathryn has created a worship album for the world. God-breathed but somewhat generic lyrics, a strong and beautiful voice, world music influences, soft pop/rock and a heart that seeks to unite people combine to produce an album that anyone looking to connect with God through music will enjoy.
The first song, "Incense of Praise," with its opening sitar and Hugh Marsh's electric violin flourishes, set the stage for a song that envisions people of all nations worshipping before the throne of God. It's strong rhythm, exotic instrumentation and a brief interlude of singing in the spirit make it one of the outstanding tracks.
Another highlight is the alternative rock sound of "In Your Time," which includes a barely audible reading of Isaiah 60 toward the end. The power and beauty of Mary-Kathryn's voice is particularly evident on the hymn, "My Father's World." "You Are There," which includes an answering male background vocal, is reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac.
Though many of the songs are directed toward God, they also convey comfort as in "Flying Toward the Sun," which speaks of unconditional love. Mesmerizing and soothing are two words that come to mind in connection with Mary-Kathryn's music.
It's a delight to hear Hugh Marsh's violin on several songs. His brother Fergus joins him on Chapman Stick and bass. The out of the ordinary instrumentation and production scattered throughout give this album a unique sound.
Though this might be a little too "new age" for some, it provides a broad appeal making it accessible to those of varied persuasions.
Customer Rating: Summary: TRULY INSPIRED VERY SPIRITUAL Comment: Mary-Kathryn is an incredible talent. Her voice is mesmerizing, her lyrics absolutely inspiring and her musical style and influences embrace many cultures. She blends New Thought, New Age, Pop, World and Christian based spirituality in a very unique way. I love her newest album "Dreams & Visions" but I also like her previous CDs One Spirit and Stream in the Desert If you like Loreena McKennit, Enya or Sarah Brightman you will enjoy Mary-Kathryn.

On her fourth album, 'Dreams & Visions', Mary-Kathryn blends elements of soft pop, rock and folk with world music influences as diverse as the continents to create a spiritual amalgam that transcends musical boundaries. Sophisticated without being elitist, understated without being simplistic, Mary-Kathryn displays an emotional depth that can only be described as remarkable. The album features appearances by Hugh Marsh on Violin and Fergus Marsh on Chapman Stick & Bass, Tony Morra on Drums & Percussion, and the Finnish vocal group Fire 4U. The CD was co-produced by Paul Buono and Mary-Kathryn and mixed by Tony Palacios.
