Summary: WE LOVE IT
Comment: My daughter now 22 months olds has been viewing this video set since age 6 months old off and on. SHE LOVES IT!! Especially going from the 1st to the 2nd dvd it was new all over again and would really grab her attention. She did get to the point she memorized it though, so she would start saying nose while they were still on eyes for example then nose would appear next and she would just smile like...i told ya so' It really helped to allow me to throw a load of laundry in or make a phone call to the dr or something with out worrying what she might be getting into, b/c i knew she would be doing if you're happy and you know it clap your hands, or some other fun educational activity. People are amazed at the vocabulary she has, and i have reccomended this set to many people. I even took it on our 6 hour flight and ended up showing some of it to another mom of a toddler sitting in front of us, she was very excited about it and was looking forward to purchasing the set herself.

my only real complaint is for the price the graphics and video quality itself isn't that fantastic, i think i've seen better at high school film festivals...but besides that the benefits my daughter has gained from watching these dvd's is amazing. i would suggest this to everyone it's a huge hit in my house! i've started working on flash cards with her as well as she is starting to point to letters in her books when we read and tell me what they are and she seems to be a little less intrested in the flash cards but hey she isn't even 2 yet so i can't blame her too much, we're just keeping it fun, and this dvd set really helps! THANKS TO DR. Titzer!

Summary: Interesting Concept, but...........
Comment: I am currently working on my Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology and I have two young children (2 and 5). I came across this video set late one night while I was up with my sick 2 year old. It is so cute to see the little kids reading words and I have no doubt that if you spend the time you could teach a baby to read. However, I have one huge problem with this system. It is teaching children to read using the whole language method. Don't get me wrong, this method has its place in reading instruction (i.e. site words like the, am, it, words that aren't easily sounded out and used often in everyday reading). Phonemic awareness (knowing the sounds that letters make) is a much more effective way to learn to read. Think about it if you come across a word you don't know as a whole language learner, you are a bit out of luck, however if you have a deep knowledge of phonemes (or the sounds letters make) you can sound it out. I actually learned to read using whole language and I am totally at a disadvantage today because of it as I am sure many others are in the same boat. Can you teach a baby to read, probably they are very in tuned to sounds and language and everything at a very young age. My concern is that this is not really teaching the underlying basics of reading. If you are set on teaching your child to read at a young age check out Hooked on Phonics. Also I tried to verify all of the creators credentials and didn't find much of anything.

Summary: Who cares if your baby can read?
Comment: This is an expensive set that is really not worth it. The instructions are to watch it twice a day, every day, which is time consuming. The videos are boring. My son is a very active child and had no interest in this whatsoever. I had heard (from an Usborne Book Rep) that this system works as everytime it shows the word "hi" in the beginning and then the girl says "hi", her daughter said it before the girl. Well, kids are good at remembering - it doesn't mean she can read.
I'd spend your time and money looking through books or another method to teach your child to read - a baby doesn't need to read!

Summary: Outstanding, Taught our Child to Read & Speak!!!
Comment: This set is incredible! Our daughter watched these dvds daily over several months. She loved the series, especially as there are intermittant children's songs throughout! Not only did this set help teach her to read at age 2, but seemed to promote her verbal skills. This was most welcomed, as she was somewhat speech delayed. We've since had another daughter and son. Our other daughter has also been an early reader, and our baby boy has enjoyed hours of watching! I very highly recommend this set! A+++

Summary: Amazing results!
Comment: My son has been watching this series of DVD's since he was 4 months old. He is now 18 months old and can read over 70 words. He knows all his ABC's and can count to 30. I KNOW that it is because of these DVD's that he is so far advanced for his age. He often reads words that we didn't even know that he knew. These DVD's teach the pattern of reading and learning. I know that all children would benefit greatly from watching these DVD's. I recommend these DVD's to all parents! They are worth every penny and then some.
