Customer Rating: Summary: inconsistent Comment: terrible product. inconsistent readings. reads too low. take temp 5 times in a row, and will range from 94-99 degrees!
Customer Rating: Summary: Totally Worthless Comment: Save your money. I spent $50 on this thermometer at right aid after are old one stopped working. It NEVER worked right. I already threw away the packaging so I can't take it back. My son had a very high fever according to my mother thermometer and mine kept saying his temperature was only 97 degrees. He was hot to the touch and hers said he was 102.7. This thermometer can be dangerous. DO NOT BUT THIS!!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Inaccurate readings Comment: I have only ever been able to get accurate readings on this thermometer once. The rest of the time the readings tend to be on the low side and can fluctuate by a number of degrees from readings taken within seconds of each other. It is hard to even get a ballpark estimate of what the temperature might be in these instances. I have tried using it with the probe covers as recommended and in desperation tried it without the covers. I still got inaccurate readings. I would spend my money on something else.
Customer Rating: Summary: horrible piece of junk thermometer Comment: you would be better off sticking a meat thermometer in your ear... it would be more accurate. readings may be correct for a turtle but no good for a human. keep this thing away from your ears. should be recalled.
Customer Rating: Summary: I thought it would be great, but I took it back after a week Comment: I have an ear thermometer that I really like but it doesn't have a back light. I thought it would be wonderful to have a thermometer that I could use without turning on the lights at 4 in the morning so I went out and bought this thermometer because of nice big glowing light! All 3 kids had the flu so I was very excited to try this out. The back light was wonderful. What a great feature! Every thermometer should have one! The probe covers on the other hand are TERRIBLE! I tried 15 probe covers and they all ripped! The instructions say not to use the thermometer without them and the package only came with about 20 so immediately I had to go out and buy some more. I went to 6 stores and no one had them (even the place where I bought the thermometer didn't have them). I guess they are hard to find? The second thing that bothered me is that the cap for the probe that is not attached in anyway to the thermometer. It is easy to remove but easier to misplace. To me, it seemed like there was too many loose pieces to keep track of.. ..an unattached probe cap, a separate small container that holds all those probe covers that kept ripping, and then the thermometer. Having to fiddle with 15 probe covers to take 1 temperature in the middle of the night when you are half awake just took too much time. I think it was ok on accuracy, not the best. My original thermometer has 2 pieces...the thermometer and a cover that keeps the probe clean and all the probe covers fit inside that cover. It has durable covers that I really like. Trying to deal with 3 sick kids, probe covers that keep ripping, and a cap that was never where I left it became frustrating fast! I took this thermometer back after a few days...Now, I am back to turning on the lights at 4 in the morning to help the sickies because it's easier, faster and more organized. I'm standing by my Braun all the way even though it doesn't have a backlight. I am feel disappointed, I really wanted one with a backlight, but this model is not worth it.
