Customer Rating: Summary: Great weather radio Comment: This weather radio is great. The best part is that I can program the unit to only ALERT for my county. I live in Florida, and we have allot of weather alerts this time of year, and it's nice to ONLY hear the ones that are for my county. The unit is well made and easy to program. It is also a clock radio with AM/FM. I do wish that the back light would stay on all the time, but Oh-Well...
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Safety Radio Comment: We live in Tornado country so I disabled the audio alert for almost all alerts with the exception of Tornado Warnings. It does exactly what it is supposed to do by displaying a light for watches and other alerts and when your sleeping and a loud audio alarm for Tornado Warnings's. We live in a rural area where we can't hear the sirens in town so in my opinion this is a mandatory safety item for my family.
Customer Rating: Summary: Midland WR-300 Comment: Hurricane Fay stuck around a long time in Volusia Couty, Florida. Glad I had the monitor. Not a piece of cake to set up, but not too difficult either. Got a few "flood" warnings at 2:00 a.m, (I am high and dry) but I took them out the next day and all is well. Live in Florida? Probably don't need snow storm warnings! Take the time to set up properly and it works wonderfully.
Customer Rating: Summary: 4-1/2 Stars Comment: This is a great weather alert radio. I bought it this spring when we were having constant severe weather here in Nebraska and our old weather radio had seen better days. More than once it alerted me to severe weather when I had no idea anything was nearby. I particularly like the power/battery option. I leave it plugged in but know it'll still work if the power goes out (which it did a few times this spring.) It's also easy to program to your own county's alerts. And you can easily switch back and forth between the National Weather Service broadcast and your local AM or FM station broadcast.
I like this so well I'm buying 2 more to give for Christmas this year. The ONLY reason I'm deducting half a star is because of the beep every time you make a change (radio channels at every point: 95.1 95.2 95.3 etc.) But Amazon doesn't give a choice for half a star so overall I'd have to rate it at 5 stars. (Beep is only annoying when you change settings.)
Customer Rating: Summary: Would like a little more. Comment: Great unit, but it has a couple features that I would expect.
The key beep is annoying and I would like the ability to turn it off. When a weather alert occurs it does not display which county code it applies to.
