Summary: Loved it!!
Comment: What can a Billy Idol fan say about Billy Idol other than they LOVE him and anything he does?! This is a very entertaining DVD and since it came out Billy and his talented band put out "Devil's Playground" in 2005 which is DEFINITELY worth buying. It showcases some of Billy's best songwriting ever. Billy had hit after hit in the 80's and also with Generation X in the 70's. This DVD has ALL the hits you've missed hearing....check it out!!!

Summary: Billy Idol at his near-best
Comment: A fun, fast-moving live appearance by legendary rock singer Billy Idol, featuring reminiscences intercut with musical performances. If you're a Billy Idol fan, as I am, you'll enjoy this disc a lot. My only complaint is that the sonic quality is not as good as on most of Billy's CDs. I don't know if this is because of recording problems or because the soundtrack on DVDs is compressed to accomodate both audio and video on the same disc, but the lower quality is noticeable on a good system. Still, if you just want to rock out with one of the '80s best performers, this disc is a treat.

Summary: Still a Rocker!
Comment: The years has been kind to him. He's still got what it takes to rock the house. There are few different versions of some of the classics, but they're just more refined. If you're a fan of the eighties music, you'll love this selection. Steve Stevens is one of the best guitarists ever!

Editorial Reviews:

The trademark snarl and sneer are still in place, but it's a somewhat mellower, more reflective, middle-aged Billy Idol who takes center stage in this latest installment of the Storytellers series. Backed by a band including longtime cohort Steve Stevens on guitar, the one-time punk pioneer works his way through 15 songs (among which are 8 that didn't make the original cable broadcast, including a superb reading of "Eyes Without a Face") over the course of the 104-minute concert, pausing between tunes to reflect on times that "weren't meant to be remembered," as Idol puts it. More than half the show is performed semi-acoustically; it's odd to hear the likes of "White Wedding" and "Rebel Yell" played as acoustic duets, but they work. And when Stevens brings out his electric for "Dancing with Myself," "Mony Mony," and others, the joint rocks. DVD bonus features include a music-only option for those who want to forgo Billy's rap. --Sam Graham
