Summary: Dissappointed
Comment: After Wine Spectator, this is really not very good. Got it for about 5 dollars for a year on ebay, and it was worth that (although i didnt renew), but not more. Seems to push their products alot, while Wine Spectator seems to have more depth in their articles.

Comment: If you are into wine you might like this magazine. As other reviewers have said , it is not quite up to par with the "Wine Spectator," which means it doesn't have the detail of the other magazine. The layout is simple and convenient to use. Typically there are a few articles on paring wine with food and a concentration or special article dedicated to a particular wine variety. For example, recently in the November 1, 2008 issue, there was extensive coverage dedicated to Malbec, which if you are a wine drinker, know it doesn't get as much publicity as say, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Noir in the red department. This was a nice treat to see the grape made famous by Argentina get it's due respect with an article on the global interest in this variety. The magazine also dedicates nearly half of the issue to a buying guide, rating and highlighting several countries wines with labels and tasting notes and suggested time to drink it. This is very helpful, especially when shopping for a bargain or that special bottle for storage for a special occasion. The color photography, size and laypout make for a first rate experience. To a lesser degree they also givce some attention to spirits but as the title indicates this magazine is about wine. At the special holiday season approaches this magazine is a good one for ideas on wine and food pairing. So,salud and bon appetit!

Summary: My Favorite Wine Publication
Comment: I happen to work in the wine industry and this is my favorite go to when I want an update or just as a casual read. It's interesting, well written, and not as snobby as some of the others. I find this to be far superior in content and approachability to those that I've read regularly in the past. Their catalog is fantastic as well and I always have a great experience with them.

I definitely recommend this publication!

Summary: good for the price
Comment: I have a subscription to Wine Enthusiast. I managed to find a one year subscription (14 issues) for 6 bucks! Given how little I pay for it, it is educational and has a extensive buying guide at the end of every issue. While I enjoy the Wine Spectator, it is much more expensive (50 bucks for a year's subscription) and I couldn't justify paying that much since it is only slightly better.

Summary: mediocre magazine, Co. has horrible customer service
Comment: Original Review:
I am extremely disappointed with The Wine Enthusiast. Although their magazine is ok, their products are overpriced, and their customer service is horrendous. I never actually got through to a customer service rep, and was on hold for 50 minutes at one point before I hung up. Below is a paragraph from a letter I sent them regarding their latest debacle with me:
"On December 10 I ordered a special gift for my husband, expecting it to take some extra time to be delivered since I chose to ship it by UPS ground. When December 18 rolled around and I had not yet received an email notifying me of the status of my order, I checked it online. It still had not been shipped. I immediately emailed customer service stating my concern. I received the automated response email assuring me that I would receive a reply to my email within 24 hours. Well, two days later I had still had not heard anything. So, I checked my account again to see what was going on. Apparently, my package had been shipped on December 18. I followed the tracking number to see the shipping status, and, apparently, UPS had not received any account information until December 18.

Coincidence? I think not."
I am not going to renew my subscription or deal with this company and its associates anymore. If you have respect for the consumer, you'll do the same.

Update:
The Senior Director of Operations called me and apologized profusely for my maltreatment. They are handling the incompetence of their Customer Service reps, and have reordered my product free of charge (and are sending it by FedEx, since I am boycotting UPS). So, I'll give them one more point.
