Summary: Good adventure for kids
Comment: I showed this film to my kids more than 20 yrs ago. I recently purchased it and let them watch it again, they still liked it, so much so that they even showed it to their kids who also enjoyed it very much. Great adventure movie.

Summary: Hard to find good Australian movies
Comment: Most Australians my age, and of my taste, can't stand Australian movies. It's all the same drama or comedy. However 'Frog Dreaming', as I've always known it, is a film I can't argue against. Australia makes quality childrens entertainment and this movie is testimony to that. It's fun and clever. An adventure film for all kids. Set in Victoria, my home state, it shows off parts of our land and culture I still enjoy to watch now in my twenties. I'm also biased by the fact that Henry wears a St Kilda Saints jersey through parts of the movie. Go Saints! I also enjoy the gadjets Cody creates, very like The Goonies charcter Data.
I happen to have an old ex-rental copy and refuse to watch it because I don't want to ruin the already faded tape. I would by it imediately if it were to be released on DVD.
I want to see more movies like this coming out of Australia. Charming, childlike and adventurous. But then again, it was the Eighties, and films were better then. Detailed characters and dialogue wothout having to rely on FX. For instance Tamsin West's dialogue is hilarious and smart.
A more innocent film than the current time seems capable of producing. For those who like to watch an adventure movie, rather than be shown FX.

Summary: The Quest
Comment: This is a rare family movie which anyone at any age can watch without fear of profane language or indecent exposures.
An Adventuros boy who lives with his uncle sees life in a different way than most children. He has ideas about how things work and seek to prove them. His uncle wants to be a friend to him and doesn't pull in the reins before his nephew falls into danger. His uncle feels the effects of this when Cody gets trapped in the lake for hours. Is he alive?, or did his lifestyle finally get to him?

Summary: Enjoyable
Comment: I Found this movie enjoyable. The movie does have a slowish pace but still a magical feel to it. the movie was filmed in Australia Victoria in a little town called Woods Point and nearby Matlock. The views of the Victorian Alps are great and I did enjoy the time when they shot the film on location. Im trying to locate a copy of this film on either VHS or DVD. This movie has names other than "The Quest" (USA), "The Go Kids" (UK) and "Frog Dreaming" (AUS). This is a film for 7 years and up.

Summary: too bad this isn't on dvd...
Comment: As mentioned, this movie wouldn't be condsidered a classic. It is pretty cheesy and I think Henry Thomas is the only "big" name in it. I remember watching this movie when I was young, maybe like 9 or 10. I know I've seen it at least a dozen times. It's one that a younger person would have to see a couple of times to get the gist of it. But after you get the idea, it's still pretty entertaining. I would recommend it for children age 8 & up. You may have to explain things, but as far as adult content, there's virtually none that I can think of, maybe a swear word here and there, but I don't think it would be anything a kid these days hasn't heard. Seems like it would be scary, but it's not, once they find out what the "monster" is.
