Summary: Pretty physical, great for younger owners
Comment: While I was looking to "baffle" my miniature schnauzer, who is in constant need of a puzzle or challenging mental game, this book is more about physical tricks (jumping over the owner, etc.). While it's a good book for this purpose, it was a little different than what I expected. Still fun, useful and effective, and one that I'd recommend, especially if you have some room to accommodate the physical nature of the training.

Summary: Best training book.
Comment: This book was great in teaching our Boston new tricks. This was my first dog, so how to teach new tricks was a challenge for me. Not knowing what to teach, or how to teach the trick. It has all levels of tricks from basic "Sit/Stay" to more advanced "Get me a Beer" (from the fridge). We're not at the fridge stage yet. But it's a good fun book that allow us to spend more bonding time with our dog.

Comment: It is a great read and has very valuable information. It will be a resource for quite awhile for my 5 month old pup.

Summary: Best Dog Training Book I've found
Comment: I raise Goldendoodle and Golden Retriever puppies and also train puppies. I have chosen this book to give to every person who adopts one of my puppies. I use the hand signals shown in the book since it makes an easy transition for the new owners to continue the training. This book is so well illustrated that even children can teach some of the tricks. And it isn't just tricks. The first portion of the book explains some of the important basic training needed for a successful dog. And that's what my adopting families get, thanks to this wonderful book. Everyone thinks they have the smartest, most perfect dog in the world. A big part of that comes from people successfully interacting with their dogs and that's what this book makes possible on all levels, with tricks rated easy, intermediate, advanced and expert.

Summary: 101 Dog Tricks
Comment: This is an excellent book. Not all of the tricks can be taught to your dog, but who knows? My dog might live long enough to do all these and be almost like a human being, as he already is at 9 weeks old...^.^...As I had received this book after I got my puppy from Dallas and taught him the four requisite commands, I started teaching him some other things that I had already taught early in my other Rotties who had passed away. When I referenced this book, the extra tricks I had been teaching my puppy were in the advanced section of this book. I was pleased with that. Since then I had been teaching my dog a little more tricks from the book and reinforcing the others I have already taught. This book has it all and more. My dog will not be a Hollywood dog but at least, he will be a good show at our airplane events. I will surely buy another book similar by this author.

Editorial Reviews:

101 Dog Tricks is the largest trick book on the market and the only one presenting full-color photos of each trick and its training steps? The step-by-step approach, difficulty rating, and prerequisites, allow readers to start training immediately. Tips and trouble-shooting boxes cover common problems, while "build-on" ideas suggest more complicated tricks which build on each new skill. No special tools (such as clickers) or knowledge of specific training methods are required. Trick training is a great way to bond with your dog and help him integrate into your family. It keeps him mentally and physically challenged and helps to establish paths of communication between you. Many tricks build skills needed for common dog sports, dog dancing, and dog therapy work. It's every dog lover's privilege that Kyra and Chalcy took time from their performing schedule to share their secrets in 101 Dog Tricks.
