Summary: The Ultimate Yoga DVD...A Must Have!
Comment: After buying numerous DVD's over the years, I came across this gem about a year ago. I would describe myself as an advanced beginner who has been through classroom training. This DVD allows ENDLESS combinations that you can tailor to your time frame and/or the desired intensity level of your session.
Shiva Rea has a lovely voice - very soothing. The beautiful location and music choices help to maintain the feeling of relaxation while still providing you a fantastic workout. As a few other reviewers stated, you will sweat. And you will never become bored with it. Just use the "matrix" to create a new workout. This is the one you will stick with. I simply love this DVD and cannot recommend it enough!!

Summary: Amazing Yoga DVD!!
Comment: This is probably the best yoga DVD I've seen , I have many yoga DVD's and this dvd's features, quality and so many possibilities to design your own workout beat all the others , no question about it. There's 4 complete yoga sessions to choose from : a 45 min beginner sesion, solar flow 1 & 2 (each about 1 hr 25 min) and a lunar flow - 60 min . All workouts consists of short segments and by the "yoga matrix" feature you can tailor your own workout out of those segments. Most of the dvd is pretty intermediate to advanced level except the begginer workout , her workouts are definitely challenging but everytime I do one of them I feel amazing and energized but also calm and peaceful because of her soothing voice and pretty long savasana (corpse pose) segment.
There's also a great "core abs" segment that is pretty challenging and great for the abs, also all of her workouts are unique and flows really well. So I hope by now I already made you buy this dvd , It is still one of my most used DVD's after 4 years I have it. If you lliked this you will probably like her "Fluid Power" DVD as well.

Summary: No studio yoga here!
Comment: This visually stunning video manages to be soothing and invigorating at the same time. Alternative moves are given to accommodate many fitness levels and, once you know the moves by heart, you have the option of playing the DVD with music only and no instruction. I've had the good fortune to take a class in person with Shiva Rea twice - she is an amazing instructor!

Summary: Feels like a Flow Yoga class at home
Comment: I recently bought this DVD as well as Shiva Rea's Fluid Power Yoga. While the jury is still out on FPY, Yoga Shakti is my new favorite yoga video. The Yoga Matrix tool provides interactive variety, and the four pre-programed routines give a good introduction to what the video has to offer. I can write down a sequence of the appropriate length in the evening and then program it in the morning for low-fuss exercise to start my day.
This is a challenging set of exercises, with Shiva guiding you through multiple stages of some of the harder poses (mostly the arm balances for me). It gives the video the feel of an actual yoga class, as you get a full description of each stage, so you can stop at any point and hold an intermediate stage, but you still get to see what the full pose looks like. I also found that many of the vigorous flows, like the Dancing Warriors, and the Rhythmic Vinyasas, left me with beads of sweat crawling down my back. I finish feeling invigorated, relaxed, flexible, and strong.

Comment: I use this DVD as part of my weekly yoga routine-practicing 3-4 times a week at home. The matrix is really beneficial in helping me create my own "yoga hour" or half-hour, if I'm short on time. It has also helped me to stick to a routine practice. The instruction is a good pace for beginners and has instruction for intermediate practitioners also. I highly recommend it if you're serious about home practice. It's also playable on my home computer and laptop.
