Customer Rating: Summary: So much more than an animal story Comment: When I picked up this book, being a fan of the blog, I expected more fun stories about Charlie and his antics. I was pleasantly surprised in so many ways. Shreve shares honest and intimate emotions and experiences and such wisdom - wisdom I hope to carry with me all my life. I can't properly express how honored I feel being allowed this glance into her life. This book is so much more than an animal story, it is a intelligent reflection of life and the relationships that make it. Thank you Shreve.
Customer Rating: Summary: A rare account Comment: This is a tender and honest account of a rare human and animal bond. The words are engaging and the phopographs are beautiful. it was a treat to read.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Book Comment: I bought this book after having been fan of The Daily Coyote blog for several months. Ms. Stockton's photos are amazing (I'd buy a book of just her photos), as is this story. The story of raising a coyote and the challenges that brings is captivating. I was a little less captivated by the other storyline of her boyfriend's emotional issues. I would have preferred to have that story either tied in more closely or featured less. For me it distracted from Charlie's story. Still, an excellent book, and I hope she writes one about her vespa drive across the country.
Customer Rating: Summary: Musings on Coyotes and Women Comment: I pre-ordered this book months ago, and so anticipated its delivery. And what a wonderful read this was! I've recommended it to many others over this holiday period. It's an amazing read. Not only is Shreve a talented writer, she is insightful as well.
The cover claims it is about love and trust in the wilds of Wyoming, and it is, but it's so much more. It's about growth, about learning who she is, and what she is capable of. It's about growing up, accepting responsibility, learning life lessons.
And while I consider myself a pretty tough country woman (Wisconsin farm)there is no way I would have lived in that log cabin, no running water or easily controlable heat in the winter! No wonder she is so supple!
I'd love to have a sequel, would love to know 'the rest of the story', and hope she opens her heart to share more with us. Meanwhile, this read was a real treasure.
Thank you, Shreve!

Customer Rating: Summary: Inspirational Comment: When I first came across the Daily Coyote blog I was entranced. Not so much with the coyote himself (I know that wild animals are not an easy thing to deal with) but more with the actual lifestyle Shreve chose. As strange as it may sound, it is very similar to the life I am beginning to create (a little slower and more planned out, though).
Shreve, if you read this, I must say that I am thoroughly impressed with your courage, strength of character and your ability to see beauty in the world around you. The world needs more people with your gifts.
