Top US Air Carriers’ On-Time Arrivals Improve in August

Despite hurricanes, labor disputes and end of summer congestion, the top US carriers delivered better service in August than in July

Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) September 6, 2005 -- FlightStats, the leading flight performance data service today released their top US carrier performance report for August 2005. Most significant in the report as a whole is that the on-time average for 41 top domestic carriers is 77% (up from 73% in July) and the average length of delay for those flights more than 15 minutes late is down by more than 10% in a single month despite operational challenges due to weather and labor disputes.

The complete report is viewable at www.flightstats.com in the FlightStats Monthly Performance Report. Unlike government sources which offer limited information on a subset of carriers, airports and routes six weeks after the fact, FlightStats offers coverage of more than 99% of all flight activity for nearly 100 domestic carriers and nearly 90% of 200 foreign carrier flights. FlightStats data is available in real-time for flight status notification or for reporting within two days of any flight. Data is also available on-demand for any route, carrier, or airport in North America, Europe and much of the rest of the world.

Volume of excessive delays also dropped in August. Of the 860,339 US arrivals in August, 9% (as compared to 12% in July) arrived more than 45 minutes late, and 12% (compared to 14% in July) were between 15 and 45 minutes late.

“The airlines are faced with enormous challenges; rising fuel costs, airport and weather forced delays and diminished perceptions of quality of service.” Says Jeff Kennedy, CEO of Conducive Technology, maker of FlightStats. “FlightStats provides timely information, in a breadth and detail never before available to help buyers and sellers, fly smarter.”
