The University of Washington and The Electric Boat Company Sign Electric Water Taxi Deal
The University of Washington and The Electric Boat Company sign a five year deal to provide Electric Water Taxi service for boating football fans.
(PRWEB) September 12, 2005 -- The University of Washington Athletics
Department is proud to announce a new long term exclusive partnership with The
Electric Boat Company for game day shuttle service to Husky fans attending the
game by boat. The Electric Boat Company will serve as the Official Shuttle Boat
provider for the University of Washington and its fans for the next five
seasons. Each year, Husky fans have the opportunity arrive to the game by boat,
then moor in Lake Washington. The new ‘all electric’ shuttles are 21 ft Duffy
Electric Series Cruisers manufactured by Duffy Electric Boats of Adelanto, CA.
The electric boats will transport fans from their boats to the dock in a more
comfortable fashion. More shuttles will be running with more passengers. The
electric boats, which have recently been Coast Guard Certified as a Water Taxi,
can hold 10 passengers plus captain and are totally enclosed and
heated.
Associate Athletic Director Ken Winstead states, “Attending Husky
football games via boat has always been a fun and exciting tradition for Husky
fans. It’s something that makes Husky football unique. Our partnership with The
Electric Boat Company only enhances this tradition and makes it a more
comfortable and fun experience. We are very excited about this
partnership.”
The five year contract is valued at over $110,000.00
including boat rentals and joint marketing efforts.
