Caribbean Shipping Services Becomes A Voluntary Member of C-TPAT
Caribbean Shipping Services announces its membership in the voluntary organization C-TPAT.
(PRWEB) September 6, 2005 -- Caribbean Shipping Services announces that it
has joined the Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT). C-TPAT is
a joint government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that
will strengthen the over all supply chain and border security.
C-TPAT is
a voluntary initiative through which businesses must conduct a comprehensive
self-assessment of their supply chain security using C-TPAT security guidelines
that have been jointly developed by Customs and the trade community. The areas
of assessment include Procedural Security, Physical Security, Personnel
Security, Education and Training, Access Controls, Manifest Procedures and
Conveyance Security. Benefits of membership in C-TPAT include decreased border
inspections, increasing productivity.

On August 19, 2005, Caribbean Shipping Services and Eagle Logistics
Systems announced an agreement in principle to merge their companies by
combining their operations. The merge is expected to close in late September and
will solidify the new entity as the largest third party shipper into the Puerto
Rican market.
Also recently, Caribbean Shipping Services was at the top
of the list of Port of Jacksonville trade partners according to their 2004
statistics. Caribbean was listed as the top locally owned company exporting to
Puerto Rico, Jacksonville’s number one trade partner.
Caribbean Shipping
Services was founded in 1993 by Paul and Julie Robbins. Today they operate from
their main offices in Jacksonville, FL and satellite offices in Miami, FL, San
Juan, PR, and Howell, NJ. The company has twice been named to INC Magazine’s
