THIRD GENERATION Takes Over SANTA ENERGY
Santa Energy, a diversified energy services company, today announced Tom Santa's promotion to Chief Executive Officer.
BRIDGEPORT, CT (PRWEB) August 4, 2004 -- Tom Santa, previously Chief
Operating Officer, takes over for John Santa who is retiring after 40 years.
John will remain as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. Tom's promotion to
CEO marks the third generation of Santa family members to lead the company.
Upon accepting his new position, Tom Santa remarked, "Having the
opportunity to serve the company my grandfather started 64 years ago is an
honor. I'm proud of the outstanding reputation the firm earned as a result of
his leadership and the leadership of my uncles and father. They established the
Santa way of doing business - dedication to our customers, employees and
community. I'm proud to have the opportunity to carry on this tradition and I
take the responsibility for representing this firm and my family very
seriously."
Tom began his career with Santa Energy in 1982 in commercial
sales. During his 22 years with the company, Tom has grown into leadership roles
within the company and the industry. He serves on the State of Connecticut
Underground Storage Tank Review Board; is a technical advisor for Brookhaven
National Laboratory; is the immediate past President of the Independent
Connecticut Petroleum Association, is a member of the Board of Directors on the
National Oil heat Research Alliance (NORA) and is on the Board of Directors of
Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut.
In addition to Tom Santa's
promotion, Santa Energy announced the promotion of Peter Russell, also a third
generation member of the Santa family, to Vice President of Santa Fuel, Inc. Tim
Costello, a twenty year veteran of the natural gas industry, has been promoted
to Vice President of the Natural Gas Division.
Santa Energy, representing
a diversified group of fuel provider and service companies, is based in
Bridgeport, Connecticut. Stephen Santa founded Santa Energy in 1940 with one
truck, a kerosene delivery route and a strong belief in family and a passion for
customers. Beginning a family tradition that has spanned three generations,
Stephen was joined by his sons. Together they became successful enough to
purchase Mobil Oil's Bridgeport facility in 1958. Relying on their traditions of
hard work and keeping their family business character have helped Santa Energy
maintain steady growth.
Santa Energy is a full service energy dealer
providing a complete line of heating and motor fuels to residential and
commercial customers throughout New England. The firm employs over 200 people
and operates a fleet of more than 120 vehicles. Santa Energy's founding
principals of customer service, dedicated employees, conservation and safety are
the cornerstones of the business and what the Santa family believes has helped
ensure their success.
