RFID Labels Test 100% Readable by the RFID Alliance Lab
Worldlabel.com shipped a roll with 105 pieces of 4” x 6” Xtrack™ RFID Smart Labels to the RFID Alliance Lab for testing. The tags embedded were a Rafsec dipole design with EPC UHF Ucode 1.19 chip. Tests were performed at the University of Kansas under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Deavours, Director of Research at the RFID Alliance Lab and Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas. Dr. Deavours issued the following statement on behalf of the RFID Alliance Lab. “On December 14, the Lab tested all 105 labels with a ThingMagic Mercury 4 reader. The Lab observed that all 105 labels were readable”.
(PRWEB) December 16, 2004 -- Worldlabel.com shipped a roll with 105 pieces of
4” x 6” Xtrack™ RFID Smart Labels to the RFID Alliance Lab for testing. The tags
embedded were a Rafsec dipole design with EPC UHF Ucode 1.19 chip. Tests were
performed at the University of Kansas under the supervision of Dr. Daniel
Deavours, Director of Research at the RFID Alliance Lab and Assistant Professor
at the University of Kansas. Dr. Deavours issued the following statement on
behalf of the RFID Alliance Lab. “On December 14, the Lab tested all 105 labels
with a ThingMagic Mercury 4 reader. The Lab observed that all 105 labels were
readable”.
"The results should be interpreted narrowly," stated Dr.
Deavours. “While we did not detect any "dead" tags, our procedure would not have
detected any "quiet" tags, or any degregation in read
performance.”
Worldlabel.com has a PCT patent pending application for a
method of embedding RFID Tags to paper labels. An opinion by the International
Search Authority has approved the method as novel and innovative.
“We
are positive we can embed any inlay into a paper label and produce a roll of
Xtrack™ RFID Smart Labels 100% readable with our method of converting” said
Russell Ossendryver, USA director of Worldlabel.com and Innotech Resources PTE
LTD in Singapore. Innotech Resources PTE LTD is a major label converter and has
invented a method of embedding RFID tags to paper labels. The method is
efficient for long runs of one size label and also “batch” conversion of
different size labels with the inlay embedded anywhere in the label the
customers might require with a quick turn around. Typically, about 20% of the
RFID labels in rolls have defective chips and are not readable. Our system and
methods of manufacturing increases the reliability and consistency of RFID
labels to 100% readable. Labels can be printed with bar codes with UHF Class 1,
Ucode 1.19 and Class 0 RFID tags embedded with most popular thermal label
printers.
While we have capacity to produce millions of Xtrack™ RFID
Smart Labels right now, we are increasing our manufacturing capacity in China,
Malaysia and are working on licensing the technology to several converters in
the USA and Europe. Plans to open our own facility in the State of Ohio are in
the works.
