Port Washington, NY (PRWEB) May 7, 2004 -- The American Sailing Association
(ASA), the leader in U.S. sailing education for nearly two decades, has
certified Port Sailing School, located here, to teach the ASA sailing course.
ASA sets standards for sailing schools, instructors, and students by providing
standardized training and curriculum for member sailing schools. Chris Nihill,
Director of Port Sailing School stated, “The ASA three-day Instructor Training
class was challenging for all the seasoned instructors who attended, and we came
away from the course better equipped to educate the public about
sailing.”
Port Sailing School teaches sailing aboard Sonar 23 and Ensign
sailboats. They offer adult and children’s sailing classes, and boat rentals
from their facilities in Port Washington, N.Y. In the winter months they offer
sailing classes in the British Virgin Islands. Interested students can access
the school online at http://www.portsailing.com or phone (516) 767-SAIL. Classroom
facilities and boats are located at Capri West Marina on Orchard Beach Blvd.
The American Sailing Association is an international network of 200-plus
professionally accredited sailing schools. More than 200,000 students have
graduated from ASA schools and clubs since 1983. ASA has formed a strategic
partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Members of the USCG Auxiliary
who wish to hone their on-water sailing skills can do so at Port Sailing and
other ASA-certified schools. Go to http://www.asa.com to learn more about American Sailing
