the area for Leadership American’s 2006 American Issues Forum. Dougherty was a
member of the Leadership America class of 2000. Holben was a member of the
inaugural class of Leadership America in 1988.
A networking luncheon for
Leadership America alums in the Rocky Mountain region is planned for Wednesday,
July 27, 2005 – 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (location to be announced). A “Special
Issues Panel” is scheduled for Wednesday, September 28, 2005 – 5 to 7 p.m.
(agenda and invitations to follow).
Leadership America (http://www.leadershipamerica.com) is the premier national
women's leadership organization that recognizes, educates, and connects
accomplished women leaders from business, government, education, and non-profit
arenas. Since 1988, more than 1,600 women leaders have participated in
Leadership America's flagship program, the American Issues Forum, to increase
their individual and collective impacts locally, nationally, and
globally.
The American Issues Forum annually selects a diverse group of
up to 100 women leaders from across the nation for a yearlong, three-city
program. Denver hosted this year’s first session April 17-20, 2005. Subsequent
sessions will be held in Washington D.C., June 26-29, 2005, and Chicago,
September 18-21, 2005. The Forum provides opportunities for rigorous discussions
and in-depth analyses of the critical national and international issues of the
day.
By year's end, participants establish a lasting, diverse network of
resources and contacts that they may call upon to support their professional and
personal development well beyond their initial program experience. Alumnae are
currently serving everywhere as successful leaders: as presidents, chief
executives, and senior-level administrators; at private and public schools and
universities; in governmental agencies at the local, state, and federal levels;
in elected office and appointed positions; and within non-profit organizations
and foundations nationwide. Many former participants are also entrepreneurs with
interests in almost every field and endeavor.
