Metropolitan Family Services Calumet Center Presents “Jazz at the Met”
Jazz at the Met - New Orleans Style will be held at the Metropolitan Family Services Calumet Center at 235 East 103rd Street in Chicago, June, 17, 2005 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Proceeds from the event will benefit Metropolitan Family Services -Calumet Center.
(PRWEB) June 8, 2005 -- Jazz at the Met - New Orleans Style will be held at
the Metropolitan Family Services Calumet Center at 235 East 103rd Street in
Chicago, June, 17, 2005 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. A Mardi Gras theme sets the
stage for an evening of jazz performed by the Beverly Allstars, featuring Liane
Williams.
All community area residents are invited to attend this
benefit which includes refreshments, Cajun style hors d’oeuvres and silent
auction. Silent auction items include, airline tickets, dinner packages, theater
packages and much, much more.
Suggested donation levels are: $25, $50,
$75, and $100. Last year’s Jazz at the Met event raised nearly $7,000. “Our goal
this year is to raise $11,000” says committee chairperson Liane Williams.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Metropolitan Family Services -Calumet
Center.
Metropolitan Family Services Calumet Center serves the residents
of Roseland, Pullman, West Pullman, Riverdale, Washington Heights, Morgan Park
and Chatham. Metropolitan Family Services Calumet Center works collaboratively
with community residents, area service providers and other community
stakeholders. A Community Advisory Board provides vital input and advocates for
services that respond to the needs of families and the community.
Programs and services at the Calumet Center include individual, family
and group counseling; mental health services; domestic violence counseling; teen
dating violence prevention; the “Safe Start Initiative” to prevent and reduce
the impact of exposure to violence on children; Adoption/Subsidized Guardianship
Preservation Program; “From Day One,” an early intervention support program for
families at risk for child abuse and neglect; “Mentors of Mothers” (MOMs) and
“Healthy Families” to help teen parents care for and raise healthy babies; and
senior caregiver and older adult services such as “Seniors Parenting Again”
(SPA), for older adults who are caring for young children in the Greater
Roseland community.
