San Francisco Building and Construction Trades Council Endorses Lisa Feldstein for District 5 Supervisor - Feldstein’s Pro-Housing Land Use Record Wins Key Labor Endorsement

San Francisco District 5: Key endorsement for Lisa Feldstein, supervisorial candidate.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 23, 2004 –- Lisa Feldstein won a key endorsement in her race for the Board of Supervisors by securing the official support of the San Francisco Building and Construction Trades Council. The Council, which represents San Francisco’s construction trade unions, announced on Friday that it was throwing its support behind Feldstein to win the seat being vacated by Matt Gonzalez.

“Lisa is the woman for the job. As a former Planning Commissioner and an affordable housing advocate, she has real track record and proven expertise in land use, housing and economic development,” said Stan Warren, Secretary Treasurer of the Building and Construction Trades Council. “While other candidates may talk about protecting the rights of working people, Lisa is labor union activist who has always fought for responsible jobs. She’s fair, she’s tough, and we know she’ll fight to keep San Francisco’s economy strong and affordable for the men and women who live here.”

“I am proud to have the endorsement of the Building Trades Council,” said Feldstein. “I understand the importance of keeping a strong economy in San Francisco and of providing San Francisco workers with decent wages and benefits, which are issues the construction unions have always championed.”

“We need to plan for our city’s future very carefully, and we also need to make sure that the workers who keep this city going can actually afford to live in the great City they help build. As Supervisor for District 5, I will continue to work with the Building Trades Council to make sure that city legislation and planning activities serve the needs of all residents,” added Feldstein.
