Vibren’s Reference Design for Intel PXA255 Application Processor Now Supports Windows CE 5.0
Boxborough, MA (PRWEB) December 9, 2004 -- Vibren Technologies, an industry
leader in embedded systems engineering, today announced that its reference
design based on Intel’s PXA255 Applications Processor now supports Microsoft
Windows CE 5.0. The Accelent DevkitIDP™ can be used to develop software for
embedded device designs including personal digital assistants (PDA), wireless
web pads, set-top boxes, Internet audio and video devices, kiosks, point-of-sale
(POS) products, hand-held devices and a wide variety of vertical market
devices.
The Vibren Accelent DevkitIDP with Windows CE 5.0 support will
allow software engineers to develop code faster and more accurately for Windows
CE devices running 5.0, significantly reducing the time to market for new
products. The Accelent DevkitIDP combines the high performance and
power-efficiency of the XScale Microarchitecture with the functionality and
flexibility of proven, industry-leading software technologies. In addition to
Windows CE 5.0 support, the Accelent DevkitIDP includes the following
features:
· Integrated LCD display, touch panel and
keyboard
· JTAG connector
· (2)
PCMCIA/Compact Flash slots with adapter
· System
bootloader supporting Flash ROM updates from PCMCIA, Compact Flash and Ethernet
· Easily upgradeable system bootloader and OS image
· System bootloader that supports display output and
menu-driven boot options
· Production quality OS image
“Widespread adoption of Windows CE across the mobile and real-time
computing segments makes Vibren’s support for Windows CE 5.0 that much more
important for developers who want to meet customer requirements into the
future,” said Tom DeSisto, vice president of business development, Vibren.
Vibren Technologies’ Accelent DevkitIDP reference design now supports a
variety of embedded operating systems including Windows CE .NET 4.2 and 5.0,
