XingHuo College of Oriental Medicine (XHCOM) places
special emphasis on Chinese Herbology (herbal medicine) consistent with the
classical Chinese treatment protocols. The program expands upon this traditional
approach to treatment to better prepare students to pass the National Commission
on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) National Certification examination
in Chinese Herbology required for licensure and practice. Our graduates are
exceptionally well prepared for the NCCAOM ( National Certification Commission
for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine ) examination in acupuncture, a nationally
recognized certification, and consistently maintain an above-average
pass-rate.

with Oriental Medicine facilities, hospitals and institutions throughout the
United States, the People’s Republic of China, Korea and the world at large. Our

many of which are causing the theory and practice of this great medicine to
evolve at a truly amazing pace.
XHCOM recognizes the value of providing
a variety of on-site learning situations and is preparing study-abroad programs
for students and graduates desiring to study Oriental Medicine, first hand, in
China and Korea. Asia recognizes the United States as a primary source of
Oriental Medicine theory and practice. Chinese medicine and Korean medicine
represent two powerhouses of Oriental Medicine and XHCOM will seek to expand the
interaction with these practices.

Acupuncture
Licensure
The Master of Science degree in Acupuncture and Oriental
Medicine is designed to meet the educational requirements of the National
Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)
examinations in acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. The NCCAOM examination
process is a mandatory component in achieving Diplomat of the NCCAOM status.
Ninety percent of the 37 jurisdictions that regulate the practice of acupuncture
have adopted the NCCAOM acupuncture examination as part of the fundamental
process for licensing acupuncturists. The certificate awarded by the NCCAOM is
not a license to practice acupuncture. Individual states perform this function
and should be contacted directly for further information. The State of Arizona
began to license acupuncturists in May 1998. Licensure requires a resident
course of at least three years of study and successful completion of the NCCAOM
National Board Examination in Acupuncture or equivalent as defined by the
Board.
