SEATTLE, WA ((PRWEB) June 15, 2004 -- Comprehensive Health Education
Foundation (C.H.E.F. ®), one of the nation’s leaders in health and prevention
education, announced today that it will implement important organizational
changes designed to ensure its continued and long-term growth. Long considered
to be a highly innovative non-profit organization for its ability to sustain
itself largely through earned income activity, C.H.E.F. will continue to set the
standard for leadership just as it has done since its founding thirty years ago
this October.
According to Larry Clark, President and CEO of C.H.E.F.,
“our organization has benefited millions of people, of all ages, over the past
thirty years by providing the skills, information and resources they need to
live safe and healthy lives. We attribute our ability to make such meaningful
contributions to a long-standing mission and set of guiding principles that make
our non-profit organization unique. Equally important to these contributions is
a fundamental belief that periodic shifts in strategic and tactical direction
are required to maintain our position as one of the nation’s leaders in health
and prevention education.”
Over the past thirty years, C.H.E.F. has
evolved its organizational model, with notable changes occurring during
important milestone periods. The first such milestone involved a decision to
partner with a national sales and distribution organization, which increased
revenue and maintained a leadership position in the marketplace for C.H.E.F. The
second milestone involved the acquisition of a significant grant from The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which recognized C.H.E.F. as a
national organization for its work in middle schools throughout the country. In
this latest organizational change, C.H.E.F. will add a new team of professionals
whose sole function will be to become more competitive in the acquisition of
state and federal funding for health education and prevention programs. In
addition, C.H.E.F. will combine internal teams that were historically
autonomous, to provide a higher level of quality products, programs and services
to its various constituent groups.
“As an organization, C.H.E.F. has
always embraced the notion of change as an important and necessary component for
growth” said Debra Keene Bergeron, Vice President. “During our 30th Anniversary
year, it is fitting that we continue to innovate and evolve C.H.E.F. as an
organization, to achieve both a higher level of service to our local and
national communities, and ensure our vitality and health for the
future.”
Founded in 1974 and celebrating its 30th Anniversary year,
Seattle-based Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C.H.E.F.) is dedicated
to promoting health and quality of life through education. A leader in
prevention education, C.H.E.F. develops numerous programs which have been proven
effective by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), and is also the
developer of the Here’s Looking at You® program, the most widely used K-12 drug
prevention curriculum in the country, and the Youth Matters® program.
