Geneseo, NY (PRWEB) April 22, 2005 -- The start of something big! Genesee Valley writer, Aaron Paul Lazar, pledges to write two books per year in his popular new mystery series.

The first book in the LeGarde Mystery series, Double Forté, has been garnishing exceptional reviews.

Carlton Duncan, author of Echoes in the Darkness, says, “Double Forté by Aaron Paul Lazar is a beautifully crafted novel vaguely reminiscent of the style of Rex Stout, yet refreshingly original. Appealing on several levels, the characters are well developed and diverse, and represent people that we know in real life. From the pristine innocence of young Johnny and Sadie, to the unprincipled son-in-law, Harold, and the corrupt and venomous Ed Baxter, we see those uniquely human traits that make life immensely pleasurable and, at times, horrific. Contrasting personalities and events create the conflict that is so important to all good works of fiction, and Mr. Lazar's novel illustrates this point very effectively indeed.

As a protagonist, Professor Gus LeGarde, in many ways, show great courage and emotional strength, but he also displays a certain vulnerability that renders him totally believable. He is a real man, but not a superman; his great passions and haunting past are cleverly revealed to the reader without hindering the pace of the novel. Also, the vivid description of New York's Genesee Valley is so engaging that the reader will feel as though he is actually there. I have absolutely no reservations in giving Double Forte' five stars, and look forward to the next installment in the series. I would strongly recommend this book to all lovers of great mysteries.”

Lazar, 52, lives in Groveland, NY with his wife, three daughters, and two grandsons. Although he planned to write a mystery series someday, it began much sooner than anticipated after the loss of eight friends and family who died in a five-year time period. “I needed a release to deal with the loss,” said Lazar “and started writing. I included characters to honor my grandparents and my father. Creating scenes with them was almost like ‘visiting’ with my lost loved ones. It was great therapy!”

BooksAndAuthors.net claims, “Mr. Lazar has a created a character that many are buzzing ‘Hollywood adaptation.’ ”

Double Forté chronicles the spine tingling exploits of fictional character Gus LeGarde. LeGarde, a college professor and widower, faces bewildering emotions when he falls for Camille, the vivacious, dark-eyed daughter of his secretary. Yet dark and troubling events in her past cause her to rebuff Gus's affections. Romance glimmers, however, as both become embroiled in an adventure when Gus discovers a mute child shackled to a bedpost in a secluded cabin. The mystery turns deadly when the child's kidnapper escapes on a snowmobile that tumbles into the deep Letchworth Gorge. When Gus's little grandson disappears and threats arrive against Camille, the fate of the villain is questioned. The story charges ahead as threats from the murderer lurking in the wintry woods plague the LeGarde family.

Lazar’s second book in the mystery series, Upstaged, has been accepted for publication. Prolific to the point of obsession, he has completed six additional books in the series and is currently working on the ninth book that features the LeGarde family.

After writing in the early morning hours, Lazar works as an electrophotographic engineer at Kodak owned NexPress Solutions, Inc, in Rochester, New York.

Double Forté is currently available to order through PublishAmerica.com, Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com. ISBN# 1-4137-2838-3. More information on the book’s release can be found on his website at www.legardemysteries.com.
