Marketing Ezine Value Jumps from Free to $300 Based On Amazon.com Article Sale
Thanks to Thomson Gale and Amazon.com a handful of Charlie Cook's marketing articles, the ones he sends out for weekly free to his subscribers, are now worth $5.95 giving the free marketing newsletter "More Business" an annual value of over $300.
(PRWEB) May 19, 2005 -- Author of the articles and current copyright holder,
Charlie Cook says, "It's very flattering that Thomson and Gale likes my articles
enough to sell them without my permission on Amazon.com, but I'd be annoyed if I
paid them money for content which can be gotten for free at www.marketingforsuccess.com."
You can view the seven
articles of Charlie Cook's listed for sale by Thomson Gale at: http://www.marketingforsuccess.com/onamazon.pdf
Charlie
isn't asking his subscribers to send him a check for $300 for their 52 issues of
"More Business" though he'd like Thomson Gale to stop distributing his articles
and send him a check instead.
Thomson Gale claims they have a contract
with the original publisher to distribute these articles on Amazon.com. What's
puzzling is that this contract was written in 1991 before the internet existed.
Then there is the small detail that author Charlie Cook never sold or reassigned
the copright for these articles.
Can anyone just start selling articles
you wrote on Amazon.com without your permission. According to Charlie, "Thomson
Gale said they'd remove the articles within 3 weeks. Amazon.com was much more
responsive when informed of the situation and promised to remove them within 3-5
days. Hopefully by the time you read this, they will no longer be for sale by
someone other than their owner."
